Overview
Viretta is a tool for demystifying content and context.
It is not “powered by AI” at this moment. It is a deterministic, rule-based framework designed to parse the web with absolute transparency — every judgement it makes is traceable to a rule, not a black box.

Problem
Modern internet content prioritizes engagement over accuracy. Headlines are misleading, speculation is presented as certainty, and sources are often absent.
Users face constant cognitive dissonance that weakens their ability to distinguish truth from misinformation.

Solution
Viretta functions as a clarity layer that strips away emotional language and clickbait, exposing the structural reality of a piece of text rather than its packaging.

Features
- Syntax Lens — Differentiates facts from opinions with visual indicators — solid purple lines for assertions, dotted purple lines for speculation.
- Citation Proximity — Scores how close a claim sits to its evidence (10.0 for primary sources down to 1.0 for pure speculation).
- Fallacy Filter — Identifies logical inconsistencies and ad hominem attacks.
- Hype Filter — Flags correlation/causation slippage like “linked to” or “suggests.”
- Generalization Detection — Spots stereotyping and “othering” bias.
- Bias Score — Reveals media ownership and funding conflicts relevant to the content.

Feedback & Next Steps
User testing surfaced the need for improved accuracy and customizable presets. Multiple test structures and edge cases are documented, with several real-world usage examples.
Status: available on the Chrome and Firefox extension stores; development ongoing.
